Twittering the Blues 2: Road Tunes

This past weekend TheBluesBlogger family visited our friends in the country. The last time we were there, I ended up in the hospital as a result of a dirt bike accident. A few days later feeling sore and foolish, I decided to pick 10 random songs that came to mind on Blip.fm. I also included updates to how I was feeling on Twitter with links to those songs. I then generated a post called Twittering the Blues: 10 Music Blips… This time around I’m happy to report I got through the evenings visit unscathed. But I did leave feeling the need to do a sequel.

Earlier that week I got back from my father/son summer road trip. It’s been a while since my son and I had the opportunity for just the two of us to hang out. During our trip we got to enjoy some swimming, water slides, baseball, and some miniature golf; all the fun stuff that goes along with summer. And along the way we listened to a lot of tunes…

My son is 13, and like his dad loves music. So for this post, I thought we’d both pick some of our favorite songs from the trip. Of course they also had to be available on Blip.fm… So below is the selection of songs old and new that we collectively agreed on. There was one in particular my son insisted be on the list. Can you guess which one? These music blips highlight the time we spent getting to our destinations in the car. I always did enjoy a good tune while traveling down the highway.

Blues Blip 1 of 10: Here we go everyone. Let’s start this trip off with – Albert Collins – Travellin’ South

Blues Blip 2 of 10: Always loved that feeling when summer holidays began – The Derek Trucks Band – Already free

Blues Blip 3 of 10: One of my favorites. And currently on tour – Johnny Winter – Life Is Hard

Blues Blip 4 of 10: My son loves the blues. Here’s one of his favorites – Jonny Lang – A Quitter Never Wins

Blues Blip 5 of 10: Hmmm… An interesting choice. Who u think picked this one? – Steely Dan – Chain Lightning

Blues Blip 6 of 10: Time to get up and head to the next town – Ray Charles – Hit the Road Jack

Blues Blip 7 of 10: Now this goes back. Beck still sounds as good as ever – Jeff Beck Group – Definitely Maybe

Blues Blip 8 of 10: Remembering the legends – Stevie Ray Vaughan – Little Wing

Blues Blip 9 of 10: This one gets you grooving – Joe Louis Walker – Blues of the Month Club

Blues Blip 10 of 10: Goodnight all. Hope you enjoyed the tunes. Have a great week! – Albert King – Call It Stormy Monday

Evening time was quiet and I got the opportunity to finish a writing project I was working on. In addition I completed the revised Junior Wells piece you see below. Most of all I spent some great bonding time with my son. All around it was a good break. Mondays come around all too fast in the summer time it seems… So how about you? How’s your summer been so far?
