@Hermitbiker — The Rolling Stones got the name for the band from Muddy Waters 1950 song “Rollin’ Stone.” Yes, cool bit of musical history that Luther didn’t like the name of his band back in 1957…

First, condolences. You gave hints of something like this happening in your life, but kept writing and delivering uplifting blues to all of us.

Second, thanks for posting this. The power that Luther Allison conveys is amazing. I can only imagine what it must have been like to be a part of his audience. His output is riveting. Excellent choice for a post.

A great tribute to a great blues legend, Luther Allison !! Yes, I know that when “blues legends” names are being talked of, Luther Allison doesn’t come up like BB King, Muddy Waters or many others of higher profile !! One thing I didn’t know was that he put a band together and called themselves the “Rolling Stones”, back in 1957, pretty cool !! But now I need to search Mick Jagger and the “Rolling Stones”…. just to see where they got the name !! I may have known that answer in my youth…. but that was a long time ago for me to remember it now !! Thanks BluesBlogger !!
